arf’s PAW, Inc., which is associated with ARF, and is a separate not-for-profit low-cost veterinary clinic for low-income pet owners, is hiring a Registered Veterinary Technician.
Education Requirements: Minimum of associate’s degree from a university accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA.) At least 2 years of Registered Veterinary Technician experience with spaying/neutering surgeries, vaccinations and dental cleanings preferred.
Hours: 30 Hours per week. Tuesday and Wednesday, 8am-5pm. Thursday and Friday, 10:30am-4:30pm
Compensation: $12/hour, not eligible for benefits
Summary: Gathering animal history information from clients/owners. Weighing animals prior to examination. Preparing exam room each day and in between patients. Collecting lab samples (blood, urine, feces) and running lab tests. Restraining patients as necessary for examination. Preparing vaccines and lab samples for veterinarian. Administering medications. Inducing anesthesia, prepping animals for surgery, assisting veterinarian during surgery, taking and recording vital signs of patients. Taking and developing radiographs. Providing nursing care to patients. Administering medications. Wrapping packs and cleaning/sterilizing instruments.
