Help ARF

GIVING TO ARF

ARF DonationsARF provides homeless animals the promise of a loving & full life by providing shelter, medical care, & love until their permanent “forever” homes are found. ARF receives no public funding. Everything we do for the animals is only possible because of your support via donations of supplies, funds, recycling aluminum cans, & volunteering. The ARF animals & staff are truly grateful for your support!

Donating Supplies

Caring for the homeless animals at ARF requires much money, time, & supplies. We are always in need of dry & wet dog & cat food (with no red dye), cat litter, floor cleaner (i.e. Pine-sol), trash bags, hot dogs, laundry detergent, fabric softener sheets, dog beds, pet crates (for transporting animals), blankets & towels.

Volunteer

ARF VolunteersOne of the greatest gifts anyone can give is the gift of time.  Volunteers must be 18 years old & must attend a one-hour training session (training sessions are offered twice per month.)  For September 2017, the training sessions are going to be offered on Saturday the 9th and Wednesday the 20th, both from 11 AM – noon.  If you have a group wanting to volunteer, please call to schedule a day for you to come in and help!  For groups that are under 18 years of age, we would be more than happy to give a tour to young animal lovers and explain what we do at ARF!

If you have any questions, please email or call us!

Sponsor an ARF Permanent Resident Sanctuary House Animal

If you love and care about animals, but are unable to adopt because of your housing or family situation, allergies, or any other reason, you can still help the ARF animals by sponsoring one of our permanent resident “Sanctuary babies.”

Part of ARF’s mission is to provide shelter, medical care, and love to animals who are “unwanted” or have been “abandoned.” For a myriad of reasons, some of these animals are considered not suitable for adoption. To this end, we have many “permanent residents” at ARF. They are loved and cared for by ARF staff every day, and are very happy with living out the rest of their lives at ARF.

The resources required to care for these animals are significant.  Shelter, medical care, food, water, utilities, cleaning supplies, bedding, and staff to care for the animals are all costs incurred in caring for the animals. The only funding ARF receives is from donations and grants.  As a not-for-profit organization, all of the funding that we receive is used to care for the animals.  Take a look at our Sanctuary babies and read their stories HERE.

Monetary Donations

If you would like to make a monetary donation to ARF, you can donate online through PayPal, credit or debit card, or drop off a check or cash at the ARF main campus Tuesdays-Thursdays, 1-4pm. You may also mail a check to ARF, 1209 W. Riggin Rd., Muncie, IN 47303. If the donation in honor of, or memory of, a pet or individual, please include pertinent information in the note section of the online donation.

The ARF Endowment

By making a donation to the ARF Endowment Fund, you are making a long-term investment in saving homeless animals in our community. The endowment fund is an investment fund established by the Community Foundation of Muncie & Delaware County. For more information about the ARF Endowment, please click here.

Big news!  Effective immediately, ARF cannot take in any more animals until further notice due to construction upgrades. We are running a cat adoption special, $20 for adult cats and $40 for kittens under 6 months of age through August 4, 2017. The dog adoption center is CLOSED for visiting hours. Dog meet & greets and adoptions are by appointment only. All adopters must complete adoption applications either via our website, or in person Monday-Friday, 10am-noon or 1pm-5pm, or Saturday noon-3pm. Please keep in mind that adoption applications take up to 3 business days to process. We do not do same-day adoptions because we check vet and personal references to make sure our babies are going to capable, loving homes.  Thank you!

Friends, it is with an extremely heavy heart we write this. Today, we had to make an excruciating decision. Hazel Grace's xrays today showed what we had feared. Hazel was still unable to have bowel movements on her own, and would not regain use of her bowels. For the last 5 days, Hazel knew love and showed us unconditional love. We had three veterinarians examine xrays and discuss options. All 3 were in agreement that her prognosis was poor and long term quality of life was poor due to infection risks, etc. As hard as it was to make this decision, it was hard every day to come in and see her in the condition she was in. ARF staff were with her at the end, and we want everyone to know if there was anything we could do to possibly make her life better, we would have done it. We wish we had better news to share, but we also are thankful that her last days were happy days and she was loved, warm, and had a full belly. As the vet said, had she not come in, she would have passed away out in the elements sooner rather than later left in the shape she was in. ... See MoreSee Less
