Muncie ARF

The mission of the Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) is to provide shelter, medical care, and love to abused, abandoned, neglected, and unwanted animals until permanent homes can be found. Through educational efforts, public awareness, and community involvement, ARF seeks to relieve animal suffering; to prevent cruelty, abuse, neglect and overpopulation; to eliminate euthanasia as a way of animal control, thereby creating a “no-kill” community in which both animals and humans benefit from the goodness of each other.

Big news!  Effective immediately, ARF cannot take in any more animals until further notice due to construction upgrades. We are running a cat adoption special, $20 for adult cats and $40 for kittens under 6 months of age through August 4, 2017. The dog adoption center is CLOSED for visiting hours. Dog meet & greets and adoptions are by appointment only. All adopters must complete adoption applications either via our website, or in person Monday-Friday, 10am-noon or 1pm-5pm, or Saturday noon-3pm. Please keep in mind that adoption applications take up to 3 business days to process. We do not do same-day adoptions because we check vet and personal references to make sure our babies are going to capable, loving homes.  Thank you!

Meet ARF's newest staff member, Dr. Kelley Veneskey! Dr. Veneskey is seeing patients at Arf's PAW clinic Tuesday's, Wednesday's, and Thursday's. Call to schedule your appointment at 765-896-9224. Arf's PAW is for low/lower income pet owners and ARF adopters.

Dr. Kelley Veneskey is a 2017 graduate of Ross University’s School of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to her doctoral work, she completed a bachelor of science in both neuroscience and psychology at Smith College. She also holds a master’s degree in nonprofit management from Ball State University.

Dr. Veneskey accepted a position at the Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) in Muncie, Indiana which doubles as a shelter and a low-cost veterinary clinic. This new adventure will combine her passion to medically care for shelter animals as well as treat pets from low-income members of the community. With over ten years of experience as a veterinary technician, Dr. Veneskey will draw upon her prior fieldwork to provide the best possible care for these animals.

In addition to treating traditional four-legged friends, Dr. Veneskey holds a state and federal license in wildlife rehabilitation. In this voluntary role, she has helped countless wild animals that may have been abandoned as an infant or were injured. She also enjoys hiking, photography, and spending time with her niece, nephew, and three dogs.

It’s with heavy hearts that we make this post. We had to say goodbye to two of ARF’s beloved residents this week. Selma had passed away last Wednesday due to end stage renal failure, and then the next day we lost King Tut due to heart failure and a mass around his lungs. Both were loved so incredibly much by our staff and volunteers and we will miss them. Fly high Selma and King Tut. ... See MoreSee Less
